Salon Sonics offers a series of introductory workshops, each comprised of a small group of six women, non-cis, LGBTQ+, and/or participants of color. The workshops are designed to build their self-confidence and develop skills related to live sound engineering and audio production with topics such as microphones, how they work and best practices for using them; how to navigate a soundboard; how to set up and tear down speakers, audio cables and other gear; and how to communicate and be a team with your engineer as a performer.

In a field that is predominantly white, cis-gendered, and male, creating the time and space to serve traditionally marginalized voices is vital to creating and educating an artistic community that reflects all artists making and sharing their work. As a producer, Holly is very sensitive to the tendency for male voices to take over. It is important for her to take note of who hasn't been heard from and make sure people are given the time to think in order to best express their desires and observations. And as a gay woman, she is aware of what it feels like herself to often be invisible at best and hated at worst. It is her goal through these workshops to help amplify voices that have been muted, and create safe environments for learning free from judgement and prejudice.
